THE second Autumn Challenge OK event organised by Okehampton Rotary has raised £4,250 for charity.

Last September saw teams of three to six people walk across the moor for either 13 or 18 miles. The number of entrants, teams and sponsorship doubled this year, compared with the 2013 event.

On Saturday, Rotary Club president Sarah Watts presented £2,000 each to Devon Air Ambulance Trust volunteer Mike Date and the North Dartmoor Search and Rescue Team's leader Dave Stoneman.

Tavistock Rotary Club's team raised the most sponsorship money and selected Devon Young Carers to receive £250. Team North Wyke, from the Rothamsted Research facility near Okehampton, were awarded the cup for the team of the day, presented by Alan Roberton of Okehampton Rotary.

Mr Roberton said: 'It is an excellent result from this year's walk and good to see the local teams from North Wyke and Tavistock doing so well.
