TAVISTOCK martial artist Tate Budge has won two golds at the latest UK International Taekwondo Federation (ITF) held in Bath last weekend.

He followed up his world title win at last year’s world championships and his three national titles at the autumn nationals by winning gold in the under 18s third degree black belt patterns, and in the 18 to 35 years third degree black belt patterns.

Tate also won silver in merged middle and welter weight sparring. This now make Tate top ranked in the UK in the two third degree black belt patterns category ahead of May’s UK finas being held in Swindon. Tate will be matched against the second ranked competitor in each discipline to try and clinch the title of overall UK champion.

He continues to train hard around his school commitments and regularly travels to St Austell to train with Richards TKD as well as his own club Trenic, which is based in London.

Tate expressed his thanks to all his instructors for the time and help they give him.
