THROUGHOUT December, Santa was kept busy aboard his sleigh, accompanied by his friends from Okehampton Round Table, bringing a little Christmas cheer and raising money for local good causes.

The extreme weather conditions that hampered many motorists did not appear to bother Santa and his friends, who persevered and went on to raise more than £2,500, which will be shared between various worthy local groups and organisations.

The illuminated sleigh passed through the streets of Hatherleigh, Okehampton, North Tawton, Sticklepath and South Zeal with festive music playing and stopping for Santa to wave at the waiting children.

Chairman of Okehampton Round Table Louis Enderson said: 'It was fantastic to see the delight on the faces of so many children who had the opportunity to meet Santa at their own front door. The weather conditions meant we could not make it to every house this year, but I was thrilled with the overall success.'

Santa and the Okehampton Round Table expressed thanks to the generosity of all local residents who showed their support this year.
