THERE'S an opportunity to explore the the natural world through drawing at a free event in Okehampton later this month.

Wildlife in the Park will offer participants to work alongside professional scientists and artists.

Scientific methods are used to identify and explain moth traps and local flora and bug nets will be used to discover what is in the area and then record the findings through observational drawing.

Drawing what is found is a core element of each event and paper, pastels, coloured pencils and watercolours are supplied.

Workshop Under the Sky will erect its nomadic yurt which will act as the workshop/studio area in Simmons Park, which also offers protection from the weather if necessary.

This event is the finale of a series of events run by Workshop Under the Sky during the last  nine months in and around Okehampton which have been funded by Okehampton Charities.

The event will be attended by Simon Drew, an internationally renowned artist who lives and works in Dartmouth.

Simon draws and illustrates nonsense verse and his work is reproduced on a range of cards, shirts, prints and mugs.
