Race director of the popular Tavy 13 road race Richard Nettleship paid tribute to the large numbers of volunteers who played their part in marshalling, catering, traffic management, time keeping and countless other tasks before during and after the event.

He also thanked Mansbridge and Balment and Tavistock Hire Centre, who were the co-sponsors of the event, and community partners Tavistock Lions and Dartmoor Search and Rescue for their support through the day.

The return of the half marathon event after a break of two years had the bonus of sunshine as 232 runners set off from the track at Tavistock College last Sunday.

Runners from over 40 different clubs (plus unaffiliated runners), took part in Tavistock’s own half marathon, organised by Tavistock Athletic Club.

The route takes runners out past Wilminstone, up onto the south west corner of Dartmoor, down onto Whitchurch road and back to the school via the Meadows.

Whilst the Tavy 13 was going on out of sight, the running track became the focus for the Tavy 13 Primary Schools Challenge.
