JUST three days after running the Ruby Run, Okehampton Running Club members Karen Vallance and Jane Jackson put their running shoes back on to take part in the fifth Bude Lifeboat Run.

Two other ORCs, Jo Fletcher and Mags Jarvis made up the small contingent from Okehampton, but what they lacked in numbers they made up for in effort with three of the four taking home prizes.

This race has grown in popularity every year and there were 230 finishers in the six mile multi-terrain race and an impressive 102 in the junior mile race.

The course runs along Bude canal towpath, footpaths and parts of the Whalesborough estate with views of Widemouth bay at the far end before turning back down to the canal towpath for a fast last mile, and finishing at the rugby club.

Jo Fletcher ran with clubmate Karen Vallance to finish together in 47 minutes 27 seconds. Karen had won her age group at the Ruby Run, but this time Jo took the honours coming first in the F35-39 category. Jane Jackson was next home in 48.54 taking second in the F55-59 category with Mags Jarvis not far behind in 50.03 to take third in the same category.
