POLICE are seeking witnesses to an incident in which a man was assaulted and robbed at the roadside on Dartmoor.

They were called at around 4pm on Sunday, June 3 following reports of an incident involving a group of motorcycles on the B3212 between Moretonhampstead and Postbridge.

The victim was approached by two motorcyclists on Station Road, Moretonhampstead, believed to be known to him.

He was later assaulted on the B3212 near the Miniature Pony Centre and money was taken from his wallet.

The victim, a man in his 40s, sustained injuries to his ear and bruising to his face, legs and back.

It’s believed that members of the public were in the area at the time and that a couple of vehicles approached the scene.

In particular, police are keen to speak to a man in a while car and a couple riding a BMW motorcycle.

The incident may have appeared to onlookers to be a road traffic collision involving a motorcycle.
