Air ambulance called to emergency at college

A patient was taken to hospital this morning (Friday, August 7) after an emergency response at Tavistock College.

The Devon Air Ambulance, a paramedic car and ambulance attended the college at about 9.30am. It is believed a male contractor working at the college was taken to Derriford Hospital by road after treatment by paramedics.

The helicopter landed in the school grounds and its paramedic crew joined their land ambulance colleagues in assessing the the patient.

A spokesperson for the South Western Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust (SWASFT) said: “We were called at 9.10am today to an incident in Tavistock.

“We sent two double-crewed land ambulances, an air ambulance, an operations officer, a first responder and a doctor to the scene. We conveyed one patient by land ambulance to Derriford Hospital.”
