SINGERS living in the Okehampton area have an exciting and rare opportunity to come under the expertise of an internationally-recognised organist and composer Andrew Wilson.

Andrew is organist and director of music at All Saints’ Church in Okehampton.

He and the choir offer a warm welcome to new members of any age who would like to join them at their Wednesday rehearsals and the Sunday morning services. No previous experience or audition is necessary, just a love of singing.

As a composer, Andrew’s choral setting of ‘Tubas cum Cytharis’ has been chosen from entries from all over the world to be performed in St George’s Montreal during November, in a competition organised by Laudem, the Canadian Association of Liturgical Musicians.

Earlier this year, Andrew, who combines his composing with the position of director of studies of the National College of Music London, was also named the winner of the ‘Project Trio’ composing competition in New York. His reputation as a composer is growing in this country and overseas and Okehampton is part of this.

Andrew is also the musical director of the Okehampton Choral Society which meets on Monday evenings at Fairplace Church. Contact Andrew on 01822 610689 or by email at [email protected]
