Okehampton seconds 47

Tiverton seconds 11

Tiverton were the visitors to Oaklands in this merit table encounter with the Okes looking to maintain the momentum of their excellent start to the season.

Playing with the slope the hosts came out of the blocks far the sharper looking to move their heavier and bulkier opponents around the park at every opportunity. Luke Honeychurch beat the last defender to cross for the first score. Captain Sizmur potted the extras.

Poynton hit Fishleigh with a terrific pass into midfield where a link up with Honeychurch saw the final pass to full back Kieran Lee who crossed out wide for a very well worked try.

The Okes maintained the pressure on the East Devon visitors and from a clearing kick, Sizmur ran back with purpose to leave flailing arms in his wake to score under the posts to bring the half time score to 21– 5.

The second half began with Tiverton looking to recover some ground with the slope advantage and pulled back six points from two successful penalty kicks. Tries from Honeychurch, Dan Squire, Joey Bruce and Ryan Lee secured the victory.

Other than a ten minute spell at the beginning of the second half, this was another impressive performance from Okehampton seconds who remain unbeaten to date.
