OKEHAMPTON Primary School has retained its title in the Okehampton Rotary Primary Schools Quiz competition.

A total of 20 teams entered the heats and Year 6 pupils had to contend for a place in the final.

The final was held on February 21 at Okehampton College and the school teams that qualified through from the heats to the final were Boasley Cross, Chagford, Hatherleigh. Lewtren-chard, Okehampton and South Tawton.

Okehampton Primary School was the eventual winner, although there was a tie-break question for second place between Chagford Primary School and South Tawton. South Tawton won the tie-break to become runners up.

Over the years that the competition has been held the winners have been fairly distributed among the local schools.

Rotarian Rev Mike Davies, who organised the 2017 competition, said: ‘The standard was again very high especially in the heats. I hope that all those that took part enjoyed the competition.’
